Our Walks: Experience the Iconic Turning of the Fagus
Option 1 – Tarn Shelf
Option 2 – Tarn Shelf via Lake Webster Circuit (longer)
Experience the lesser known Tasmanian iconic hikes on our doorstep
Get out and in the fresh air for a long day bush walk while taking in the iconic Tarn Shelf at Mount Field (3-5 hours). Like a longer hike? Try Tarn Shelf Circuit (6-8 hours).
Our Tasmania hiking event is an excellent way for friends to get out in nature and recharge their batteries together. Or what a great opportunity for workplaces to register a team for a unique team bonding day.
The Walk
Option 1 – Tarn Shelf walk (3-5 hours)
Option 2 – Tarn Shelf Circuit – Lake Webster Circuit (6-8 hours)
Enjoy a hike through Tasmania’s stunning Mount Field region. You’ll be visiting a picturesque series of small glacial lakes, and if you do the circuit there’s a number of pristine lakes and quaint historical huts preserved and containing memorabilia from the region. Fagus, Australia’s only deciduous beech tree is a feature of this walk. The leaves will be turning – meaning changing into an array of autumn colours. It’s the most glorious site ever!
Entry Fee
Tasmanian Iconic Walks is a volunteer run not for profit organisation. Our entry fee covers the cost of running the event (promotion, buses, insurance for example).
Registration fees are $69 early bird per person, or $89 regular ticket fee

Fundraising
We support stroke prevention research and our charity of choice is the Menzies Institute of Medical Research. 100% of the money raised will go to Stroke research, specifically stroke prevention. Teams are expected to raise a minimum of $1,000 jointly (or $250 each).
Motivational Sneakers, a team headed by Stroke survivor Matt Picone raised over $11,620.
100% of the money raised by our participants goes to our charity of choice
Training
Our hiking event isn’t a walk in the park. It’s a “challenging day walk that will make the world a better place.” This means we highly recommend improving your fitness prior to the event.
We will send you a hiking fitness guide to help you get hike ready, so you can really enjoy your day.
Not walking with us but you’d still like the guide? Register here and we will email you a copy.
