Christine Bayley is joining the Tasman Arch to Fortescue Bay walk for many reasons.

As a primary carer Christine neglected her own health needs, so participating in this walk is about taking time out for herself. Christine has been concerned about an increase in her blood pressure.

High blood pressure (hypertension) is the most important known risk factors for stroke

The good news is that some simple lifestyle changes can help to lessen our risk of stroke: exercise regularly, eat well, drink less alcohol and find time to relax.

So here Christine is, in training for Tasmanian Iconic Walk’s 3 March walk, and working on improving her health generally. In the process, she hopes to have the opportunity to educate others on how to lessen their risk of stroke.

Christine has done parts of Tasman Arch to Fortescue Bay walk before and she can’t wait to get back to enjoy that stunning coastline.

On a more personal note, Christine’s father-in-law died much earlier than they expected. He suffered a massive stroke in the night from which he never recovered. It felt like he was here one day and gone the next. “We miss you John, Dad, Grandad.”
